“We would like to take this opportunity to inform you about the PhD Programme in Economics at the European University Institute in Florence. We would be grateful if you could bring this information to the attention of talented students at your Institution or forward it to your contacts who might be interested.
The application deadline is 31 January 2013. Our Website is http://www.eui.eu/Economics.
The EUI programme offers excellent opportunities for talented young economists. PhD candidates are offered extensive training – both in terms of courses and in terms of guidance for their research. They attend a full sequence of PhD courses in macroeconomics, microeconomics and econometrics, and a wide selection of advanced optional courses. Candidates are closely supervised by experienced senior faculty members throughout the programme.
All students admitted to the programme are awarded full financial support. Career prospects are excellent as well: many of our alumni are now prominent academics or working in high profile jobs at leading international institutions. The department members work closely with students to assist them throughout the job search process. In the last four years our students have been placed at institutions such as Oxford University, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Paris School of Economics, Stockholm University, Cornell University, University of Houston, University of California Davis, Universität Mannheim and Universität Bonn, the European Commission, the European Central Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
The Department of Economics at the EUI provides a lively, stimulating and hard-working environment for research. There are weekly seminars in all main fields and a large number of high profile short-term and long-term visitors and post-doctoral fellows. PhD candidates have the opportunity to attend many EUI conferences and guest-speaker events.
All information about the Department, the PhD programme and application procedures can be found in the attached flyer, or on our web page.
